Christmas Shoes for Guatemala

One of our ministry outreaches is helping to meet some of the physical needs that we come across throughout the year.  One such need we have seen, is for shoes for the children.  Their families just can not afford to purchase them for their children.  Most families earn between $5 and $13 a day, with the average income about $275 per month, yes, per month not per week.

Although we collect these shoes at Christmas time, they are not given out as Christmas gifts.  We distribute them to children in need.  Many times we come across families with nothing.  Other times we give them out after a natural disaster to families who have suffered a loss. 

You can help by purchasing a new pair of tennis shoes for a child.  In addition to the tennis shoes, you are encouraged to fill the shoes and every inch of the shoe box or small container with items such as socks, underwear, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, hair bands and the likes for girls, combs, school supplies, and other small gift items, like small dolls or stuffed animals.  You may also include a photo and a letter if you would like.  Our only request is that all items are new and please do not include any candy or liquids that may melt or leak. 

You may wrap or decorate your box or container.  Wrap the lid separate from the box and place a few rubber bands around to hold together.  The boxes must be able to be opened for inspection. 

With this ministry you can help make a difference in a child’s life today!  You will also get a return on your investment in this child’s life.  We will do our best to make sure that every donor receives a photo back of their gift being given.  You will get to see a photo of the child who received your gift.  Our goal is to motivate people to take an active roll in foreign missions.  Our hope is that when you see that photo of your gift being given to a needy child, you will take an active roll in praying for that child and their family.

Please include a $7 donation for each shoe box to help cover distribution and other project costs associated with the distribution of these gifts.  His Hands International is a 501(c)3 non-profit ministry, and all gifts are tax deductible as the law allows.
