Clean drinking water is so important and vital to our health. In the USA it is readily available in just about every home. In Guatemala, clean water is a precious resource that most do not have or can not afford. Water born illnesses are one of the major causes of sickness that primarily affect the young and elderly. This is so unnecessary with the technology that is available. We can do something about this, and we are going to do something about this. The slide show below is one example of why we need to help. This is how they collect their drinking water. Their “collection tank” is a 2 hour hike up in the mountain where rain water, ground water, and spring water trickle down the mountain into a concrete box along with anything else in it’s path such as animal waste. This particular day we are cleaning out and sanitizing the tank. Before we get back down the mountain, there will be unhealthy bacteria and germs back in the tank because it is an open system. We need a closed system like a well. The solution is a portable well drilling rig that we can take to these remote areas and drill them a clean, safe, sealed water well. Large truck mounted rigs can not navigate the rugged terrain. This unit is platform mounted and can be towed behind a 4x4. By meeting a physical need in providing water in Jesus name, we open the door to share the Gospel in these remote and poor villages. It is one thing to go into a village and witness, but when you can meet a physical life saving need, it gives you the credibility to share the real life saving message of the LIVING WATER!
