Youth On A Mission

It is always refreshing and fills my heart with joy when youth are motivated to make a difference!  Mary Anna Smeester (Pink Shirt), was adopted from Guatemala when she was a baby.  Her and her father will be joining us on mission in Guatemala in February 2017.  To help fund raise for her trip and our mission, she began to advertise at her Cute Country Cupcakes stand at the South Hill Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.

One morning Taylor Guilford from Woodbridge, VA, visited and asked how she could help.  Mary Anna told her about our Christmas Shoes Project, in which we collect new tennis shoes and socks for the children in Guatemala.  Taylor went home and began talking to her friends at school and family.  In a short period of time Taylor had collected 75 pairs of shoes for the children in Guatemala!

What a blessing it was for my wife Beverly and our daughter also from Guatemala, Rossina, who was the inspiration for the project over 10 years ago, you can read her story on our website, to accept these shoes at the home of Mary Anna Smeester.

We will be taking these shoes with us in February 2017, and Mary Anna will be able to help give these shoes out to poor families.

Again, thank you so much Mary Anna and Taylor, and everyone who gave!  Keep having a heart to serve.

If you would like to help, we are looking for new tennis type shoes, socks, and croc style shoes, for children of all ages.  We can come and pick up large donations, just give us a call.  In addition, funds are also needed to cover the shipping and distribution of the shoes in Guatemala.  Please visit our Christmas Shoes Project page to give online and for more information.
