We have been struggling for space for a few years as we have been steadily growing. We have been looking for ways to improve the use of our space and for the longest time used stack-able baskets. Even with the baskets we found ourselves struggling where to put things.
Praise God I was introduced to a local Christian businessman who is a carpenter and cabinet maker who has an excellent reputation in the community. He came and measured our kitchen and showed us some examples of his work. Then came the price…it was a fair and reasonable price, just not in the budget. After lifting this request to the LORD, we just continued the way things were. The kitchen was always full of love as we prepared meals and cookies!
Then one day I heard that still small voice of the Holy Spirit saying it was time to call the carpenter and order the cabinets. I have learned to take steps of faith, sometimes leaps of faith, in this case we only had half the money which is all he needed for the down payment to make the cabinets. The kitchen was cleaned and prepped for the installation date.
The cabinets were brought up one by one and the carpenters began to install them and make their final adjustments. At this point the money had not come in to pay the final balance, however I still had faith. I paid the carpenter all the cash we had in reserve that was set aside to pay the construction workers a few days from now.
Faith is having a dream or vision, giving it to the LORD in prayer, waiting and listening for that still small voice, stepping out in faith. The LORD will show up so we can give HIM the GLORY! I believe it was that evening or the next morning, I was alerted of several donations that came in to cover the balance. GOD IS GOOD!!! We praise the LORD for speaking to folks hearts at just the right times, as HE always does.
Maybe the LORD spoke to your heart at some point about giving or doing something for the LORD, and you told HIM no, or you ignored it. My friend you missed a blessing. That was me about 40 years ago, God called me to full time ministry and I gave excuses. This year we celebrate 20 years of serving God in Guatemala….I often wonder what God could have done with those extra 20 years.
Dream Big, Give it to God, Listen for that still small VOICE, step out in faith, give GOD the glory, dream bigger and repeat! We are HIS hands to do HIS work to bring HIM the glory!
