Another Robbery

It is so sad that there are sinful people in this world that are driven by greed and anarchy, no matter where you are located in the world. Unfortunately, the local government clinic that we help run has had it’s share of problems. As you may have read in previous stories I have published, the building they were operating out of was basically condemned and no longer safe for them to be in. It also had it’s share of robberies.

We moved the clinic to our church/multi-purpose building while we constructed a new technologically advanced medical and dental clinic. Because of this COVID crisis our donations have all but dried up, so construction has been really slow. During this time, the temporary clinic has been robbed now 3 times. The church is located in a bad area without many homes around it, and is easy to get into because of it’s design.

So this last robbery was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. Saturday our team in Guatemala moved everything out of the church to the new clinic. And currently have a make shift clinic set up in what will be the waiting room. We need to raise a minimum of $10,000 to finish everything out properly. We still have the electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, painting, floor tiles, we have 2 bathrooms to finish, as well as putting in a septic system. And finally the fixtures and equipment.

$10k is just the minimum that we need to get the clinics opened. We still have the second floor classrooms and kitchen to finish and equip. This has become a critical situation and we are reaching out and pleading for your help. As you can see from the photos, the folks are sitting on buckets, concrete blocks, and really do not have the proper furniture or equipment that they should have.

Although this clinic is located in an area with great poverty, our clinic does not have to reflect that. We want to give our best in everything we do, and we do it as unto the LORD JESUS HIMSELF. Forgive me for a moment for speaking the truth in love, but most Christians give their leftovers to missions. We once had a “Gently used children’s clothing & shoes” drop box with this signage on it. Probably 1/3 of the stuff that was dropped off had to be thrown out. As a missionary representing JESUS CHRIST in Guatemala, I would be ashamed to give out some of the stuff that was donated. Folks we need to give our best, not our leftovers. These children are just as precious in God’s eyes as your children and grandchildren.
