A few months ago we took another incredible step of faith. In addition to bringing our 4th well online we laid the foundation for our new mission home right in the heart of our mission. We were blessed to have two churches join us to kick off this project. First was Wildwood Church from Tallahassee, Florida followed by Metropolitan Baptist Church of Brooklyn, New York. What a blessing to have both of these churches step out on faith and send teams to represent their church in Guatemala. These teams along with our volunteers in Guatemala were instrumental in laying the foundation for the mission home and building our water tower and well house.
Now, we have laid out a budget and a plan to continue the building process, one room at a time, using whatever funding God is going to provide or through any short term mission teams He sends our way. As we have seen time and time again, God’s timing is perfect and HE ALWAYS provides every penny of our needs.
Last Fall I had the honor of speaking in many churches in the North East and sharing God’s story of what He is doing through us in Guatemala. The message was the same then as it is today.
Dream Big – Don’t put God in a box of what He can or can not do through you. God is bigger than anything and has given us incredible power if we truly believe in Him we can do ALL things through Christ (The Holy Spirit that lives within us). John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Listen For That Still Small Voice – We need to be sensitive to that still small voice of the Holy Spirit. God is not going to speak (in most cases) using a bull horn, but through His still small voice. Just look how God talked to Elijah in I Kings 19:11-13. Key point here is after we have given God our Dream we need to Listen.
Act – Step out on faith. When you Dream Big and you Listen for that still small voice and your hear it, don’t just sit there, Act! Step out in faith and God will do the rest. But do not forget to leave out the most important step.
Give God The Glory – The glory is not yours. We are merely the instrument God chose to use for His glory. We need to always remember this and thank Him for what He has done through us.
Folks, I call this our secret sauce to how we approach missions. Through this approach we are changing lives in Guatemala for HIS glory!
God has given me and our team an incredible dream and vision. It took the Holy Spirit 3 times to get my attention because it is such an incredible dream and opportunity for us in Guatemala. It was a dream as big as a mountain. God, dare I dream that big? Was my inner thoughts. So our entire team spent 24 hours fasting and praying for God to give us a clear direction. When we came back together, God had given us peace and even more ideas and ways to serve HIM through this dream. I truly believe that God is going to make this great dream a reality, all for His glory!
